Before light falls

Forty years of silence.

Forty years carrying a secret too big for me.

No one will tell you what happened in Henderson on August 20, 1955. Yet, some know.

Today, I am going to die... So when a man who has been silent for all these years finally decides to speak, you better listen.

Because what I am about to tell you might change the way you look at the sky... before it goes dark.

About Steven Creeks

As far back as I can remember, I have always loved telling stories. It started as a game, but it quickly became a necessity—a way to escape a reality I found too dull, a world that bored me to tears.

My childhood imagination knew no bounds. I used those around me as test subjects for my narratives, inventing details with such precision that I almost convinced myself my lies were true.

I didn't go on vacation like the other kids. But when they came back and it was my turn to share my summer adventures, I had gone away too. Of course I had. I would describe these dream journeys with the help of travel guidebooks I had memorized by heart, reciting the names of restaurants, beaches, and even monuments as if I had truly stood there. Sharing these illusions gave me a strange kind of intoxication: it felt like I was wresting a piece of reality from my dreams, conjuring them into existence.

Yet, these stories were only fleeting mirages. For them to truly exist, they had to be captured. Writing became the necessary next step: a way to solidify my dreams, to give weight and texture to what was merely thin air.

My pen became my weapon to crack reality open and reshape it as I saw fit.

Today, my stories explore those blurry zones, the "hinterlands" of the mind where dreams bleed into reality. I like to place the reader in that state of unease, right where it becomes impossible to distinguish where the truth begins and the illusion ends.

But we don't know each other yet. And after everything I’ve just told you about the art of lying, you would be wrong to take my word for it.

To see if our imaginations can travel together, I propose a pact: read my short story, "Before the Sky Goes Dark". It is my gift to you, available on my website.

Something happened near Henderson on August 20, 1955. An event that will impact our future. I won’t say more; I’ll let you open that door yourself.

If you enjoy the experience, my debut novel "Not in This Life" will be available on January 25th on Amazon (paperback and ebook). I can’t wait to take you on this journey with me; I have many stories left to tell.

The essence of who I am lies within these books. See you soon.
